Newborn session frequently asked questions

When should I book the newborn session?

Newborn sessions are ideally booked during pregnancy, usually in the second trimester. This makes it easier to reserve a place in my schedule because these sessions are in high demand.

The date remains flexible, of course, because we always adapt to your baby’s arrival. If your baby is already born when you find this page, contact me anyway: a last-minute opening is sometimes possible.

What is the best time for the session?

The ideal time for a newborn photo session is usually between day 8 and day 15. Babies still sleep deeply during this period, while I also want you to have found your first rhythm with your baby.

Every baby is different, and beautiful images are still possible with a slightly older baby.

How long does a newborn session last?

A newborn photo session usually lasts between two and three hours. This gives us time to respect your baby’s rhythm, with breaks for feeding, changing or soothing.

Newborn sessions are never rushed. Everything happens calmly and gently so your baby stays peaceful throughout the session. Your baby decides the rhythm.

Session safety

Baby safety

Safety and hygiene are always the priority during a newborn session.

Every pose is created gently and with respect for your baby’s rhythm. Nothing is forced, and some poses are adapted or skipped if your baby is not comfortable.

Newborn posing is done professionally and always with soft transitions.

The session is always guided by your baby’s comfort and well-being; whatever happens, your baby remains the one who decides.

What kind of photos?

During my newborn photo sessions, your wishes remain important. If you choose my studio, you probably already know my world and my photographic style, which naturally guides the session.

Every family is different. Do you prefer natural photos without accessories, images with a little posing, or your baby placed in beautiful containers?

We discuss this together so the session feels like you.

Preparing a newborn photo session in the studio in Orleans, France

What should you prepare for the newborn session?

Whenever possible, it is best if your baby is fed at the studio just before the session begins. This often helps them fall asleep more easily and keeps the session calm.

Bring everything your baby needs: spare clothes, diapers, a pacifier if you use one, and a bottle if needed.

I like photographing babies in their most natural state, often simply naked or lightly wrapped. I also use soft newborn-safe accessories. You can bring a personal object if you wish.

If you would like a few photos with your baby, plan neutral-colored outfits for the family: white, cream, beige, camel. These simple colors keep the images timeless.

One last tip: babies are often naked during the session, so little accidents can happen. It can be useful to bring a change of clothes for yourself too.

Are family photos included during the session?

The newborn session is also an opportunity to create a few photos with parents and siblings if there are any. These family images are often very precious.

I simply guide you so these photos stay natural and soft, even if you are not used to being in front of the camera.

If you wish, your pet can also be included. Please let me know in advance and make sure they are calm and clean so everything goes smoothly.

How should I prepare children?

If your children participate, simply explain in advance that you are coming to take a few photos with the baby and that it will be a pleasant moment.

Even young children often feel more comfortable when they know what will happen. Their participation is usually short because patience is limited at that age.

If your child is very young, it can be helpful for someone to pick them up after the family photos while I photograph the baby alone. If that is not possible, that is fine too.

FAQ newborn session

What if my baby arrives early?

No problem. When you book, your due date is simply noted in my calendar so I can keep time available around it.

I always adapt to your baby’s arrival. If your baby is premature, the session naturally takes place once you are home and the necessary care is finished.

What if my baby does not sleep?

Do not worry, this is completely normal. Newborn sessions include enough time to respect your baby’s rhythm.

We always take breaks when needed for feeding, changing or soothing. Beautiful natural images are possible even when a baby is more awake.

Is professional makeup available?

Yes. For all my sessions, you can book professional makeup at the studio with a professional makeup artist.

This optional service is 65 euros for makeup, or 80 euros for makeup and hairstyling.

Can I buy additional photos?

Yes. If you want to keep more images, you can add extra photos to your gallery.

An additional photo costs 45 euros. A pack of 10 or more additional photos is also available with a decreasing rate and a professional album included.

How long does delivery take?

After the session, we take time to view the images together so you can make your selection.

Once your selection is made, I carefully retouch your photos. Final images are delivered in about two to three weeks.

How are the photos delivered?

Your high-definition photos are delivered on a beautiful USB key, included with your session.

You can also order professional products to preserve your memories: prints, albums or frames.

How does image publication permission work?

The prices shown include a 100 euro discount when you allow me to share some images from the session.

If you prefer your photos to remain completely private, that is absolutely possible. The publication discount is simply not applied.
